Eddy K. M. Chong

Eddy Chong is an Associate Professor at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He teaches music theory and analysis across diploma, undergraduate and graduate levels. His research interests straddle tonal studies and twentieth-century music. Beyond his initial doctoral work on developing a neo-Schenker approach to analysing Ravel, he has since broadened his music-analytical purview to examine the music of Lutosławski, Hindemith and Persichetti in some detail. He has also been exploring the musical systems of Chinese, Indonesian and Japanese traditional music so as to better understand some of the musical fusions in more recent works. He has presented at various international conferences, and has published in journals and book chapters.
