Edward M. Kian
Edward (Ted) M. Kian, Ph.D. holds the titles of Distinguished Visiting Professor and Endowed Welch-Bridgewater Chair of Sports Media in the School of Media and Strategic Communications at Oklahoma State University and Associate Professor of Sport Administration in the College of Education at the University of Central Florida. Dr Kian’s research focuses on sport media, specifically examining portrayals of gender and LGBT in sport media articles, new media and attitudes and experiences of sport media members. Dr Kian’s scholarly articles have appeared in top journals from a variety of academic disciplines, including Contemporary Athletics, International Journal of Sport Communication, International Review for the Sociology of Sport, Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media, Journal of Homosexuality, Journal of Sports Media, Men and Masculinities, Newspaper Research Journal, Sociology of Sport Journal and Women in Sport and Physical Activity Journal. Dr Kian has fifteen years of professional experience in sport journalism, working in newspapers, magazines, media relations, Internet sites and radio.
