Eleonora Sammartino

Eleonora Sammartino is a sessional lecturer in film studies at the University of Greenwich. She also currently teaches at the University of Reading, Imperial College London and London Southbank University. Her research focuses on the American musical, feminist theories and popular media, star studies and identity politics in the Italian media. She has published articles and book reviews on musicals and queer and gender studies in European Journal of American Studies and Film Studies, and chapters in collections in Italian, such as Il passato nel cinema contemporaneo (Giulia Fanara [ed.], Bulzoni, 2013). Her forthcoming publications include a book chapter on choir films in Musicals at the Margins (Julie Lobalzo-Wright and Martha Shearer [eds], Bloomsbury, 2020). She is also a programmer at Festival of Italian Literature in London (FILL), for which she has organized and moderated public screenings on film and migration.
