Dr Eline Kieft is research fellow at the Centre for Dance Research, Coventry University and associate editor of Dance, Movement and Spiritualities. She is fascinated by worldwide similarities between indigenous traditions regarding intangible aspects of reality and other ways of knowing, including embodied epistemologies and shamanic techniques. This includes both ancient and contemporary (cultural) cosmologies, as well as deep immersion in site and place. She recently led a project to build a Somatics Toolkit for ethnographers, funded by the National Centre for Research Methods (NCRM). Eline aspires to research and facilitate the experience of spirituality, soul and the sacred through the moving body. Her background includes professional dance training, three degrees in anthropology (BA, MA, Ph.D.), an accreditation as Movement Medicine teacher, and ongoing study of shamanism, stories, symbols and dreams as healing modalities, including at the Scandinavian Centre for Shamanic Studies.
