Elizabeth A. Smith

Elizabeth A. Smith is a conservation social scientist working to integrate human well-being broadly into conservation strategies. Her current focus is on climate change issues, from understanding perceptions, barriers and drivers around community decisions to increasing adoption of solar technology or coastal flood adaptations, to evaluating pathways for greater equity integration across climate policies. She received her MPA from Columbia University in Conservation Policy and her Ph.D. in environmental and resource economics from the University of Rhode Island. Smith is currently lead scientist in economics and social science in The Nature Conservancy in New York.
