Ellen Claes
Ellen Claes is assistant professor of political science and responsible for the teacher training in social sciences and philosophy at the KU Leuven. She is national research coordinator of the International Civic and Citizenship Education Study, ICCS 2016, in Flanders. Previous and current work explores the effects secondary schools have in shaping democratic knowledge, behavior and attitudes of young people. Ellen moreover investigates the role of teachers in this socialization process.
