Elora Halim Chowdhury

Elora Halim Chowdhury is an associate professor and chair of the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Her research and teaching interests include transnational feminism, gender violence, human rights, narrative and advocacy. She is the author of Transnationalism Reversed: Women Organizing against Gendered Violence in Bangladesh (SUNY Press 2011), which was awarded the Gloria E. Anzaldua Book Prize by the National Women’s Studies Association in 2012. Her recent book, co-edited with Liz Philipose, is titled Dissident Friendships: Feminism, Imperialism and Transnational Solidarity (University of Illinois Press 2016). She has published extensively in journals and edited volumes and is currently working on a manuscript about gender and nationalist cinema in South Asia.
