Emilia Di Martino
Emilia Di Martino is full professor at Suor Orsola Benincasa University of Naples, Italy. Her interests cover a wide range of topics, mostly focusing on the nexus between identity, language and power. She has published extensively, including the books Celebrity Accents and Public Identity Construction: Analysing Geordie Stylizations (Routledge, 2019) and Indexing ‘Chav’ on Social Media: Transmodal Performances of Working-Class Subcultures (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022). She is co-editor, with Luise von Flotow, of the Special Issue of International Journal of the Sociology of Language on ‘Transgender and Language’ (2019); and, with David Banks, of Specialized Discourses and Their Readerships, in The M.A.K. Halliday Library Functional Linguistics Series (Springer, 2019) and of the Special Section of Journal of Pragmatics on ‘Linguistic and Discourse Issues in Contemporary Scientific Communication’ (2019).
