Emily L. Newman

Emily L. Newman is associate professor of art history and specializes in late twentieth- and twenty-first century activist art, fashion and visual culture, with particular interests in female body image, television studies and popular culture. Her book, Feminist Art and Fashion in US Protests and Politics: This is What a Feminist Looks Like (2023) has recently been published with Palgrave Macmillan Press, while her first book, Female Body Image in Contemporary Art: Dieting, Eating Disorders, Self-Harm and Fatness was published by Routledge in 2018.
