Emma Murphy

Emma C. Murphy is Professor of Political Economy in the School of Government and International Affairs at the University of Durham. Her publications on information technologies in the Arab region include ‘Agency and Space: The Political Impact of Information Technologies in the Gulf Arab States’ in Third World Quarterly 27: 6 (2006) and ‘Theorizing ICTs in the Arab World: Informational Capitalism and the Public Sphere’ in International Studies Quarterly 53 (2009). She has also written extensively on North African and Arab–Israeli political economy.
