Ethan (E.E.) Balcos

Ethan (E.E.) Balcos is an associate professor of dance at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. He has led a professional career as a dancer and choreographer for over 30 years. At the age of 18, he began studying traditional modern technique with dance pioneer Hanya Holm at the Colorado College while simultaneously beginning the practice of Contact Improvisation. Balcos is actively exploring somatic movement as it applies to choreography, improvisation, performance and teaching. In 2019, he participated in the NDEO/ISMETA Somatic Movement and Dance Education Conference in NYC, presented at the fifth international Dance and Somatic Practices Conference in Coventry, United Kingdom, the Annual Body-Mind Centering Conference in Santa Barbara, California, and the Body IQ Festival in Berlin, Germany. He also completed a Body-Mind Centering course on the Fluid System in Montreal, Canada.
