Fabíola Ortiz dos Santos

Fabíola Ortiz dos Santos is a Ph.D. fellow at the doctoral programme MEDAS21 – ‘Global Media Assistance: Applied Research, Improved Practice in the 21 Century’ (Erich Brost Institute for International Journalism, TU Dortmund) and research associate at the Institute of Communication Science in Duisburg-Essen University, Germany. She holds an MA at the Erasmus Mundus Journalism for Media and Globalisation with the Specialism in War and Conflict Reporting – Aarhus University (Denmark)/Swansea University (United Kingdom), a BA in journalism (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and a BA in history (State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). Fabíola Ortiz dos Santos has worked as a journalist for more than ten years reporting on human rights, development and international affairs in the Global South. She was awarded the Elizabeth Neuffer Memorial prize at the 2018 UNCA (United Nations Correspondents Association) Awards and 2017 AMAN Prize – Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies.
