Fernanda Díaz-Basteris
Dr Díaz-Basteris is an assistant professor at Cornell College. She teaches in the Modern Languages Department, the Latin American studies programme and the race, ethnicity and social justice programme. She is interested in Latinx studies, twentieth- and twenty-first-century Latinx literature, and Caribbean visual productions. She received a Ph.D. in Latin American literatures and cultures with a dual emphasis in Latinx and Caribbean visual cultures from the University of California, Davis (2019). Her current research looks at visual representations of undocumented American life experience, the social-political crisis of disasters’ aftermath, the communal digital storytelling of forced displacement, and the femicide and state of emergency in Puerto Rico.
