Fernando Tavares Pimenta
Fernando Tavares Pimenta graduated from the University of Coimbra with a degree in History before being awarded a Master of Research (M.Res) from the European University Institute. He is currently conducting doctoral research within the European University Institute’s Department of History and Civilization. He is involved in the University of Coimbra’s Centre for Twentieth-Century Interdisciplinary Studies and the University of Ferrara’s Contemporary History Institute. His book discussing Angola’s white settler nationalism, Brancos de Angola: autonomismo e nacionalismo, 1900–1961, was recently published in Coimbra by Minerva. His main research interests are Portuguese history and African colonial history in general, and the political history of white settler communities in particular.
