Fiona Evison
Fiona Evison holds a Ph.D. in music education at Western University in Ontario, Canada, and she is a lifelong community musician. Her academic interests include community music leadership, community choirs, congregational music-making and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic upon community music. Her doctoral research is on children’s community singing, composing and well-being, with publications from Oxford University Press and Routledge Press relating to her theory of relational composition. She has published and presented research internationally in journals such as Journal of Popular Music Education, Religions and Canadian Music Educator’s Journal. As a practitioner, Fiona is a community choir conductor, accompanist and church music director, with an MA in community music (Wilfrid Laurier University). She also composes music for community and professional musicians, and she is a board member and journal editor for the Association of Canadian Women Composers.
