Florian Krauß

Florian Krauß, Ph.D., research fellow at the University of Siegen, Germany, leads the project Quality Series as Discourse and Practice: Self-Theorizing in the German TV Series Industry (funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, 2018–21). Previously, Krauß was a lecturer in the university’s Department of Media Studies and a research associate at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, Potsdam. In 2011, he completed his Ph.D. thesis on the diasporic reception of Bollywood films in Germany (Bollyworld Neukölln: MigrantInnen und Hindi-Filme in Deutschland [Universitätsverlag Konstanz, 2012]). He is the co-editor of the Special Issue ‘Media Industries’ of the German journal Navigationen (2018) and of the forthcoming anthology Teen TV (Springer VS, 2020). Further recent publications on media industry, production studies and German television include articles in SERIES, International Journal of TV Serial Narratives (2018–19), montage AV (2018) and TV Diskurs (2018–20). His primary research interests are media industry and production studies, screenwriting research, German television, television series, gender in relation to audio-visual media, Hindi cinema and film literacy.
