Francis Ward

Francis Ward is a music educator and ethnomusicologist based at Dublin City University (School of Arts Education and Movement, Institute of Education). He completed his Ph.D. studies at University of Limerick as an Irish Research Council scholar investigating the development of a virtual orality in the processes of transmission in Irish traditional music. Francis will be resident at the School of Music, University of Washington for the academic year 2019–20 as a Fulbright Research Scholar. His research interests include music education in formal, informal and non-formal learning contexts, music education and social inclusion, music in the primary school, Irish traditional music and dance, and educational technology. Francis is also a well-respected teacher, performer and composer/choreographer of Irish traditional music and dance.
