Gabriel Schwake

Gabriel Schwake is an architect, urbanist, and a lecturer at the University of Sheffield. He studied architecture at Tel Aviv University and completed his Ph.D. at the Delft University of Technology. Schwake examines issues of identity, conflict, and neoliberalism in the process of spatial production, with an interest in the transformative role of the built environment in times of increasing globalization and nationalism. His areas of expertise include nation building, geopolitics, and geoeconomics in the Middle East and other contested regions. Schwake is the author of Dwelling on the Green Line: Privatise and Rule in Israel/Palestine (Cambridge University Press, 2022) and a variety of academic articles.
