George Pleios
George Pleios, Ph.D. in Sociology of Culture and Mass Media, is Associated Professor, Director of the Laboratory for Social Research in Mass Media and Deputy Head at the Department of Communication and Mass Media, University of Athens. He has also taught at the University of Ioannina and University of Crete. He is the author of five books: Moving picture and artistic communication”(Delfini, 1993), The discourse of image. Ideology and politics (Papazisis, 2001), Culture of image and education (Polytropon, 2005), Foreign policy and mass media. The ‘national issues’ in the maelstrom of the media– with Ch. Fragonikolopoulos (forthcoming, Sideris, 2011), The news and the modernity (forthcoming, Kastaniotis, 2011). His current interests are focusing on the relation between mass media and society.
He has published more than 40 articles and chapters in Greek and foreign reviews and collective books, he has been primary investigator in more than 20 research projects and has presented more than 40 papers in national and international conferences on mass media.
