Georgia Thomas-Parr
Dr Georgia Thomas-Parr is a lecturer in film and screen studies at SOAS University, London. Her research is interested in girlhood as both a lived experience and a symbolic image as represented in global visual culture. This extends to her recent projects which focus on the phenomenon of shōjo (girl) and kawaii (cute) orientated subcultures, observing how spectacular femininity and tropes of girlhood in anime are brought to life by cosplayers in the United Kingdom, from maid cafés to idol groups.
