Georgina Ripley
Georgina Ripley is senior curator of modern and contemporary fashion and textiles at National Museums Scotland (NMS), where she is responsible for fashion from 1850 to the present. She is the editor of a forthcoming publication on the little black dress that will accompany a major temporary exhibition (postponed due to COVID-19). She curated the international touring exhibition Body Beautiful: Diversity on the Catwalk (NMS, 23 May–20 October 2019) and was the lead curator for the National Museum’s permanent Fashion and Style gallery that opened in 2016. Her current research interests include the museum’s extensive archive of British fashion designer Jean Muir (fl. 1962–95); the intersection of fashion, new technologies and sustainable practice; and constructs of masculinity in contemporary menswear and image-making, with a focus on intersectionality. She is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Dress History, and board member for the ICOM Costume Committee.
