Gillian Moore
Gillian Moore received her B.A. in Philosophy and Art from the University of Chicago in 2019, her M.S. in Conservation Ecology from the University of Michigan in 2022, and her M.F.A from the LeRoy E. Hoffberger School of Painting in 2024. She has worked as a wildland firefighter on engines and hotshot crews since 2018. Combining her operational and artistic inclinations, her visual art practice navigates interactions between natural systems and anthropogenic structure. She frequently deploys landscape data, mapping strategies, and scientific record-keeping in a painterly practice that stems from a careful attention to and care for the natural world. Her work has been exhibited at the Johnson Gallery, London; Leidy and Decker Galleries in Baltimore, Maryland; Duderstadt Gallery in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Glen Vista Gallery in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Galena Arts in Galena, IL. She currently resides in Silver City, NM.
