Gitte Stald

Gitte Stald, Ph.D., is an associate professor at the IT University in Copenhagen. Her research focuses on digital society and citizenship, youth, media, informed citizenship, digital inclusion and digital and democratic literacy. She wants to understand impacts on changes in the foundation for democracy. Her present research builds on her previous research in children, youth, digital and mobile media, and local and global media. For example, she participated in Children and Their Changing Media Environment (1995–98); the networks/projects EU Kids Online (2006–present), respectively, Net Children Go Mobile: Risks and Opportunities (2012–14) and Children Online: Research and Evidence (CO:RE) (2021). She led the research network Democracy & Citizenship in Digital Society (DECIDIS) (2014–20). She is a member of ITU’s Research Ethics Committee and serves as an expert on EUs Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe ethics expert panel.
