Giulia Marcucci

Giulia Marcucci is associate professor at the University for Foreigners of Siena. She is the author of articles on the relations between Russian literature and cinema. Her research interests are in the work of Anton Chekhov and cinema, Chekhov and Italian translations. She has authored the books Lo scrittore bifronte: Anton Čechov tra letteratura e cinema 1909-1973 (Aracne, 2011) and Anton Čechov in Italia: La duchessa d’Andria e altre traduzioni 1905-1936 (Quodlibet, 2022). She has also translated novels and short stories by L. Petrushevskaya, A. Astvatsaturov, M. Elizarov, R. Senchin and others; and she has published on the work of Andrei Tarkovsky in the journal Europa Orientalis and in the volume Italia–Russia: Un secolo di cinema (edited by O. Strada and C. Olivieri) (ABCDesign and PBN Print, 2020). She collaborated between 2010 and 2019 with the Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema in Pesaro for the section ‘Russian Women’s Looks’. She is the director of the Center for Translation Studies at the University for Foreigners of Siena.
