Grécia Paola Matos

Grécia Paola is a Luso-Venezuelan artist. Her work questions gesture, action, desire, body, time, and ephemeral through sculpture, drawing and video. She holds a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts-Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. Grécia Paola has already exhibited at: Zet gallery (2020), Fábrica da Cerveja de Faro – International Light Festival of the Algarve (2019), Funchal Prison Establishment (Funchal, 2020), PortoCartoon World Festival (2019), Municipal House of Culture of Cantanhede (2019), Expofacic, 1st Cantanhede Biennial (2019), Lugar do Desenho – Fundação Júlio Resende (2018) and in Vila Nova de Cerveira (2018). Grécia also developed an artistic and sociological project at the Prison of Funchal (2020) and collaborated in the artistic partnership between Paris College of Art (Paris) and Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (Porto). She also contributed to creative projects and to exhibitions set up (Guimarães and Funchal [2019]) and was an art assistant at the Symposium Art and Sustainability in Braga (2018). She participated in performances such as MUURMLGR by Manoel Barbosa in Cerveira (2018), Undo It and Do It at the FBAUP Exhibition Pavilion (2017) and José António Asensio’s Il.luminats at the FBAUP Museum (2015). In 2020 Grécia was distinguished with the best Oral Communication – Panel Arts in the 13th Edition of the Youth Research Meeting – IJUP. Currently, as Isaque Pinheiro’s artist assistant, she develops a reflection on the sculptural object in its most varied materials and construction processes.
