Gregorio Alonso
Gregorio Alonso holds a BA in geography and history, and an MA and a Ph.D. in modern history by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Gregorio also holds a PGCE by King’s College London, where he served as lecturer in European studies and Spanish history from 2005 to 2009. Since that year he has lectured in Hispanic history at the University of Leeds, acting as associate professor since 2018. He is the author of La Nación en Capilla: Ciudadanía católica y cuestión religiosa en España, 1793–1874 (Comares, 2014), the co-author and editor of The Politics and Memory of Democratic Transition (Routledge, 2011) and Londres y el Liberalismo Hispánico (Iberoamericana-Vervuert, 2011). His academic contributions have been published in Contemporary Church History, History of European Ideas, History Workshop Journal, Journal of Spanish American Studies, Modern Language Review, Historia Social and Historia y Memoria. He has been the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Iberian and Latin American Studies (Taylor and Francis) since 2016.
