Guglielmo Scafirimuto
Guglielmo Scafirimuto obtained his Ph.D. in film studies at the University of Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle. He studied literature and anthropology at the University of Palermo, sociology at the University of Paris 7 Diderot and film studies at the Sorbonne Nouvelle. His research links the approach of postcolonial studies and the theories of social sciences with contemporary cinema and video, focusing on diaspora, and minorities’ self-representation and identity. He deals particularly with migrant artists working on exile and memory through autobiographical video, documentary and experimental film. He has also combined this academic research with fieldwork in the migrant residences of Paris, where he has coordinated participative video workshops.
