Hannah Andersen

Hannah Andersen (MFA, BFA, NCPT) is an assistant professor of teaching in the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, where her research and teaching live at the intersection of dance science, somatics, arts education, pedagogy and technique. She teaches theory and practice courses in the BS/BFA dance programmes, and MA theatre and dance teaching artistry, and directs the Pilates mentorship programme which guides theatre and dance students in obtaining Pilates teacher certifications. Andersen received the 2017 ‘Doug Risner Prize for Emerging Dance Researchers’ in the Journal of Dance Education. Hannah has served on teaching faculty at Whatcom Community College, University of Oregon and Western Washington University and received prestigious awards and fellowships from University of Oregon and the National Dance Education Organization. She spent three seasons performing with Bellingham Repertory Dance (WA, United States) and has held choreographic residencies through Hannah Andersen Dance.
