Hayley Meaden

Hayley is an artist and activist with a focus on socially engaged and sustainable projects, methods and materials. Her background is in costume for theatre, and her education in Visual Arts and Contemporary Jewellery. She creates wearable art from textile, metal and is currently focused on environmentally positive materials and practices. Her work aims to connect us with our environment, with our stories, our sense of self and with each other. Hayley is a senior lecturer in Costume Design and Making at Nottingham Trent University. She is an experienced costume designer, supervisor and maker and gains great joy from developing these skills in her students. Her research aims are to explore sustainable practice within the arts and arts education. She firmly believes in the potential for artists to be the instigators of a more sustainable, more equitable, post-capitalist society.
