Helen Laws

Helen Laws (BA [Hons]) manages Russell Maliphant Dance Company’s research programme and is currently undertaking a Ph.D. at Coventry University investigating freelance dance artists’ representation and role in the cultural ecology. Before this she was instrumental in shaping industry body One Dance UK’s pioneering Healthier Dancer Programme. She brought together the United Kingdom’s leaders in their fields to form the National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science in 2012, establishing the first NHS dance injury clinics, for which she was recognized in the 2014 Evening Standard’s 1000 most influential Londoners. Helen is the author of Fit to Dance 2: The Report of the Second National Inquiry into Dancers’ Health and Injury in the UK and served as a member of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science board, 2005–13.
