Helen Phelan

Professor Helen Phelan is a professor of arts practice at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick, Ireland. She has been involved in research on music and migration for over two decades. She is principal investigator of the Health Research Institute interdisciplinary group on participatory arts-based methods in migrant health research and co-lead of the Singing and Social Inclusion research cluster at the Irish World Academy. Her singing interests span medieval Latin chant to contemporary ritual song traditions. Her most recent publication, co-edited with Graham Welch is The Artist and Academia (Routledge, 2021).
