Helia Asgari

Helia Asgari has conducted her Ph.D. research on the subfield ‘governance from below’ at the University of Vienna. Specifically, she explored citizens’ strategies and forms of controlling communicative environments in zones of crisis, with the specific case of Iran. Her interests concern the area of media governance, public sphere and social movements in the Middle East. She is currently an independent researcher in Iran and works on social media and social movement as well as women and social harm. She is also a senior social media editor at Zanan Emrooz magazine (women’s magazine).
