Helmut Peissl
Mag Helmut Peissl is managing director of COMMIT – Community Medien Institut in Vienna. He develops training concepts for community media and adult education with a focus on multilingual media production and critical media literacy. He is a founding member of the Community Media Forum Europe (CMFE) and currently represents CMFE at the Council of Europe’s meetings and as an observer with the CDMSI. Helmut worked repeatedly for the media authority in Austria to research community media policies across Europe and to set up recommendations for improvement of the non-commercial broadcasting sector in Austria. For the Ministry of Education he realized research on community media’s contribution to lifelong learning, which was published by the media authority RTR, and he has recently drafted a volume on critical media literacy and community media.
