Henry Bongyereirwe
Henry Bongyereirwe is a photographer and Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. Until November 2003, he worked for a number of daily newspapers in Uganda. Between 2005 and 2007, he was a Fulbright scholar at Ohio University. Over the last six years, Bongyereirwe has been involved in documentary photography, travelling different parts of Uganda and the wider region. Some of his work has featured in exhibitions, including an exhibition about the northern Uganda insurgency. In November 2008, Bongyereirwe’s work produced during his time in the United States – focusing on his views on everyday life in south-eastern Ohio – was shown in an exhibition at Makerere University Gallery, and subsequently in exhibitions at the Islamic University in Mbale, eastern Uganda; Gulu University, northern Uganda and Moon University, western Uganda.
