Hilge Landweer

Hilge Landweer is Professor of Philosophy at Free University of Berlin. Previously, she was Vice Director of the Languages of Emotion graduate school, a Cluster of Excellence at FU Berlin. Her areas of specialization include phenomenology, social philosophy, ethics and interdisciplinary gender studies. Her most recent areas of interest have been philosophy of emotions and philosophy of law. She has published a series of articles and three monographs including Scham und Macht. Phaenomenologische Untersuchungen zur Sozialitaet eines Gefuehls/Shame and Power Relations: Phenomenological Investigations of the Sociality of Emotion (Tuebingen, 1999) and Philosophie der Gefuehle. Von Achtung bis Zorn/Philosophy of Emotions: From Respect to Anger, co-authored with Christoph Demmerling (Stuttgart, 2007). She is currently editing a volume about law and emotion and working on a book project, The Sense of Appropriateness.
