Hüseyin Serbes
Hüseyin Serbes devoted his doctoral thesis to fanzine and punk culture in Türkiye with the subtitle ‘Underground publishing from photocopy to digital’. In his work, he is motivated to strictly adhere to the punk ethic. His research focuses on radical and autonomous media experiences in youth (sub)cultures. He draws his inspiration from punk, Dada and Situationist ideas, auto-ethnographic theories and research in what Stuart Hall calls ‘living archives’. In addition to being an independent academic based in Istanbul, he also teaches in schools affiliated with the Turkish Ministry of National Education.
