Imre Szeman

IMRE SZEMAN is Canada Research Chair in Cultural Studies at the University of Alberta. He conducts research on and teaches in the areas of energy and environmental studies, critical and cultural theory, and social and political philosophy. Forthcoming books include Fueling Culture: 101 Words for Energy and Environment (Fordham UP, 2017; co-editor) and Energy Humanities: An Anthology (Johns Hopkins UP, 2017; co-editor). He is currently completing work on On Empty: The Culture Politics of Oil, a book that maps the multiple, complex and often contradictory ways in which oil has come to be positioned in our social imaginaries. Szeman is the founder of Banff Research in Culture.
