Ioannis Bardakos

Ioannis Bardakos is an artist and academic. He studied mathematics and art in Athens and Madrid. He completed the double MFA degree in art VR and is currently a Ph.D. candidate between Paris 8 and the Athens School of Fine Arts. In 2017, he joined as a programme director and a senior lecturer at the DETAO’s Technoetic Arts Department in the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts. He is a member of the HyperMedia Lab in Athens, the INREV laboratory in Paris, member of the Technoetic Arts Journal E.O. and founder and artistic director of studio RHO-Shanghai. He extensively taught cybernetics for art and he organized lectures on technoetics and exhibitions like Technoetic Entanglements at Digital Suzhou 2019,!OBJECT, Ars Electronica 2018–19: Technoetic Pharmakon.

He is interested in aesthetics, and non-traditional types of narrative experiences in a hybrid and virtual worlds. He is currently exploring the space between technoetics and mathematics experimenting on forms and the poetics in diagrams.
