Isabel Pinedo
Isabel Pinedo is an associate professor in the Department of Film and Media Studies at Hunter College, City University of New York. Her work focuses on media studies, gender and social theory. She is the author of Recreational Terror: Women and the Pleasures of Horror Film Viewing (SUNY Press, 1997). Her writing has appeared in edited volumes such as A Companion to the Horror Film (Wiley-Blackwell, 2014) and in journals such as Jump Cut and the Journal of Film and Video, on various topics including the impact of 9/11 on television narrative and commemorative practices, the discourse on torture in television and film, the aesthetics of horror films and the embodied experience of media viewing.
