Izzati Aziz
Izzati Aziz teaches at Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture. Her teaching focuses on gender, race and ethnicity. Her current research explores the aesthetic and representation of ‘Oriental’ cultures in South Asian and western media. In particular, she studies the politics of fashion to contribute to the East–West discourse and to incorporate industrial perspective. She analyses the impact of fashion not only on cultural identity construction, but also on environment. Her Ph.D. dissertation critically explains the differences in the way Malaysia’s Vision 2020 policy was communicated to three main races in Malaysia: Malay, Chinese and Indian. She was a two-time recipient of research scholarship award by the Malaysia’s Rural and National Development Ministry.
