J. Bryan Burton
J. Bryan Burton is currently the Professor and Chairperson of Music Education and Coordinator of Graduate Studies in Music at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. His interest in intercultural music education has taken him as both researcher and lecturer to over thirty states, Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, South America and New Zealand. He is the author, co-author or contributing author of over forty books in the field of intercultural music education and music education. He is also noted for his work in research methodology and music education philosophy. Of mixed Native American and European descent, his long-standing interest in the music of the original inhabitants of North America has led him to meet and work with many musicians and tribal leaders and he has shared their social dances and songs with music teachers in over 200 workshops and presentations at state, national and international music education conferences.
