Jacquelyn Suter
Independent writer and researcher living in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Holds a Master's Degree in Rhetoric from the University of California at Berkeley. Subsequent study at the Centre Americain d'études Cinématographiques in Paris, focusing on film theory, attending seminars conducted by Christian Metz, among others. Currently interested in how western theories and critical approaches might enliven and broaden the terms of engagement with Thai cinema, offering unique interpretative opportunities that might not otherwise emerge. The current and historical hybridized nature of Thailand's culture and discourses would seem to call for such an approach with, at all times, keen attention to local specificities.
