James Alexander Mackenzie

James Alexander Mackenzie is a lecturer in the Bachelor of Arts at Macquarie University. He completed his Ph.D. in the Macquarie English department and has taught at universities in Sydney and Istanbul. James has previously published peer-reviewed articles on Beat Generation authors such as William S. Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg. He also co-edited a recent issue of Textual Practice with Dr Paul Sheehan (Taylor & Francis, 35:10, 2021). James’s research primarily focuses on the way Beat literature intersects with other transgressive forms of media. He considers himself a RuPaul’s Drag Race superfan.
