James Alexander McVey

Alex McVey is an assistant professor and director of debate in the A. Q. Miller School of Media and Communication at Kansas State University. Alex is a critical-cultural communication scholar who works at the intersection of rhetoric and media studies to examine the relationship between power, inequality and discourse. Alexander’s work focuses on mediated representations of policing in the United States as well as the rhetorical dynamics of visual, digital and surveillant media. His research has been published in outlets such as Crime, Media, Culture, Rhetoric Review, Teaching Media Quarterly, Present Tense and Project on the Rhetoric of Inquiry.
