Jan-Martijn Meij
Jan-Martijn Meij is an assistant professor of sociology at Florida Gulf Coast University. Dr Meij’s research interests include metal music studies and popular culture. He is the co-editor of Music Sociology: An Exploration of Music in Social Life (Routledge, 2013) and co-authored the chapter ‘Moving past violence and vulgarity: Structural ritualization and constructed meaning in heavy metal subculture’ in that same volume.
