Jaspal Naveel Singh

Dr Jaspal Naveel Singh is a hip hop head and father to a two-year-old baby. He currently works at The Open University in the United Kingdom, where he is employed as a lecturer in applied linguistics and English language. His first monograph Transcultural Voices: Narrating Hip Hop Culture in Complex Delhi (Multilingual Matters, 2022) provides an in-depth insight into the emerging hip hop scene in India. Together with Quentin Williams, he has also edited the seventeen-chapter strong volume Global Hiphopography (Palgrave Macmillan, 2023). His current research interests include decoloniality, voice, narrative, gender and sexuality. Jaspal has lived and worked in Germany, Hong Kong, India and Wales.
