Jelena Novak
Jelena Novak is a musicologist, cultural analyst and theorist of art and media, lecturing and writing on contemporary performing arts, especially recent opera. She is a Ph.D. candidate at Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis and her current research is based on voice, corporeality and new media in postopera. Novak is founding director of CHINCH (www.chinch.org), a member of the Centre for Studies of Sociology and Aesthetics of Music (CESEM), Lisbon, and founding member of Walking Theory (http://www.tkh-generator.net/platform). She is the author of Wild Analysis: Formalist, Structuralist and Poststructuralist Analysis of Music (2004), Opera in the Age of Media (2007), and co-author of Women and Music in Serbia (2011).
