Jenifer Malmqvist

Jenifer Malmqvist grew up in a small town in Southern Sweden. After studies in Sociology, History of Art, Philosophy and Music she directed amateur theatre and started to study film-making, first in Sweden and then at the Polish National Film School in Lodz. In 2009 Jenifer was awarded the scholarship in the memory of Swedish film director Bo Widerberg. Her films have been screened and won prizes around the world. Peace TalkBirthday and On Suffocation were selected for The Sundance Film Festival in 2007, 2010 and 2013, respectively. Her films have been described as realism infused with the absurdism and surrealism of everyday life. She is currently working on a documentary and on the script for her first fiction feature film.
