Jenni Lehtinen

Jenni Lehtinen received her D.Phil. in Spanish American literature from Wolfson College, University of Oxford in 2011. She is currently an assistant professor in languages, linguistics and literatures at Nazarbayev University, in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Before joining Nazarbayev University, she held teaching positions at Oxford University and Exeter University. She is the author of the monograph Narrative Allegory in Rómulo Gallegos’s Venezuela (MHRA, 2013) and is currently finishing a book on-screen adaptations of Gallegos’s novel Doña Bárbara. Her co-authored chapter ‘The female colossus in the New World: Innovations on a classical motif in José Martí’s Modernismo’ was recently published in Brill Companion to Classical Receptions: International Modernism and the Avant-Garde (2016). Alongside her research, she is completing an MA in screen studies at the Birmingham City University.
