Jennifer Purtle
Jennifer Purtle, Ph.D. (Yale), 2001, is associate professor of Chinese and East Asian art history in the Department of Art History, University of Toronto. Author of Peripheral Vision: Fujian Painting in Chinese Empires, 909–1646 (forthcoming); Reading Revolution: Art and Literacy during China’s Cultural Revolution (2016), she has published essays in peer-reviewed journals including Art History and Journal of Asian Studies. She served as principal investigator of the Getty Foundation Connecting Art Histories Project ‘Global and postglobal perspectives on medieval art and art history’ (2014–17), and is completing a book-length manuscript, ‘Forms of cosmopolitanism in Sino-Mongol Quanzhou’.
